Work injuries: rehabilitation that gets you back.
WorkCover-supported physiotherapy, combined with acupuncture and clinical Pilates, at our Highgate Hill clinic.
A work injury affects more than your job, it affects your confidence in your own body. We build a rehabilitation plan that treats the injury and gets you back to work safely.
Injuries we commonly treat
- Back and shoulder strain from manual work
- Repetitive strain injuries
- Post-incident rehabilitation
- WorkCover-supported recovery

WorkCover rehabilitation
With a valid WorkCover claim, physiotherapy is claimable as part of your recovery. We work with you to understand exactly what your job asks of your body, whether that's heavy lifting, standing all day, or hours at a desk, and build a plan that safely rebuilds strength, movement and confidence around those specific demands.
Slow-building injuries from repeated movement at work, like a sore wrist from typing or an aching shoulder from overhead work, often sit alongside stress and poor sleep, because a tired, stressed body heals more slowly. In Traditional Chinese Medicine, ongoing strain like this often reflects Qi and Blood Stasis, where circulation to the area has become sluggish. Acupuncture helps that circulation flow again, working alongside hands-on therapy and graded exercise so the tissue actually rebuilds, not just feels better for a day.
- Physiotherapy
Hands-on treatment and targeted exercise for the injury.
- Clinical Pilates
Rebuilding strength and control for a safe return to duties.
- Acupuncture
Pain relief alongside your rehabilitation program.
Deciding between practitioners for a work-related back or neck injury? Physiotherapy vs chiropractic sets out what each one does. For the strengthening side of your return to duties, clinical Pilates vs regular Pilates explains why supervised sessions matter while you are still recovering.

Patient story
A patient's shoulder had seized up almost completely after a workplace injury, putting their ability to keep working at risk. Treatment focused on restoring range of motion in stages, and they were able to keep working throughout recovery rather than taking extended time off.

Good questions
Work injuries come with their own stress, paperwork included. Here's what to know.
Related conditions
Not sure if this is the right fit? These might be closer.
Do I need to tell my employer everything?
Only what's required for your WorkCover claim documentation. The details of your treatment stay between you and the clinic.
Will treatment slow down my return to work?
The aim is the opposite, a well-managed plan gets you back to work sooner and more safely than pushing through untreated.
What if my WorkCover claim isn't approved yet?
You can still book and pay privately while your claim is processed, and we can help with the documentation it needs.
Do I need a doctor's referral?
No, you can book directly. A referral is only required for WorkCover, Veterans' Affairs, CTP or a Medicare chronic condition management plan.
Can I claim on my private health fund?
In most cases, yes. The clinic is registered with all major health funds for physiotherapy, acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine, so most policies allow you to claim on the spot through HICAPS and just pay the gap. Check with your fund to confirm your level of cover.
Should I see a doctor before starting physio for a work injury?
For a WorkCover claim you'll usually need a medical certificate from your GP first. If the injury involves a suspected fracture, a deep wound, or loss of feeling or movement, get medical assessment straight away. For everyday strains and overuse injuries, physiotherapy is appropriate first-line care alongside your claim.
