      Meet Dr Sandra Tan

Principal Physiotherapist, Chinese Medicine Doctor and Clinical Pilates Instructor

Sandra has over 20 years of clinical experience combining an effective, tailored mix of physiotherapy, acupuncture, Chinese herbal medicine and clinical Pilates: a holistic physio treating both the causes and the symptoms of a condition.

She works holistically, looking at your whole body while treating you as an individual. Her aim is to help you overcome your health issues and maintain good health so you can enjoy each day with vitality. The practice is deliberately small, offering caring, personalised attention and one-on-one treatment where you are treated with respect and care.

I look forward to helping you achieve your lifestyle, work or sports goals so that you can lead a healthy and happy life.

“Sandra is more than a skilled physiotherapist & acupuncturist, she is a true healer in the most genuine sense of the word. Her approach goes far beyond dry needling & standard physio protocol. Sandra takes the time to really understand what's going on beneath the surface, takes the holistic approach & treats the whole person.”

“Really great experience. I came to her for help with joint pain related to Ross River Virus and also help with dealing stress and some auto immune problems. Acupuncture has really helped me to control my immune response to the point I very rarely get sick anymore.”

Claims and cover, sorted on the spot

Registered with all major health funds for physiotherapy, acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine. In most cases you can claim on the spot through our HICAPS terminal and only pay the gap.

In most cases, claim physiotherapy, acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine on the spot with HICAPS, with your rebate deducted automatically. Cover varies by policy, so check with your fund if you are unsure.

      Medicare care plans

Up to 5 subsidised allied health services per calendar year with a GP referral, shared across all allied health providers. The Medicare rebate is refunded straight to your bank account.

      Referrals

No referral needed for most visits. WorkCover, DVA, CTP and Medicare care plans are the only cases that require one.

      Good questions

If yours is not answered here, call or email and we will happily talk it through.

      Do I need a doctor's referral?

No, you can book directly. If you have already seen a doctor, bring along any scans, reports or letters. A referral is only required for WorkCover, Veterans' Affairs, CTP (third party insurance) or Medicare chronic condition management plans.

What should I bring to my first consultation?

Any scan or blood test reports, a written list of medications if you take several, and your doctor's referral if you have one. Comfortable clothing helps too.

Can I claim treatments on my private health fund?

In most cases, yes. The clinic is registered with all major health funds for physiotherapy, acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine. If your policy covers the modality, you can usually claim on the spot through HICAPS and just pay the gap.

      Can I claim through Medicare?

With a GP referral under a Medicare chronic condition management plan, you may be eligible for up to 5 subsidised allied health services per calendar year. That allowance is shared across all allied health providers, not 5 physiotherapy visits on their own, so it is worth checking what you have already used. Consultations are not bulk-billed: you pay in full and the Medicare rebate is refunded to your account via HICAPS. Confirm your eligibility and the current rebate amount with your GP or Medicare.

      How can I pay?

EFTPOS is available at the clinic, so you can pay by bank card or credit card. Cash is welcome too. Health fund claims go through HICAPS on the spot.

Where is the clinic and is there parking?

26 Gladstone Rd (corner of Brook St), Highgate Hill Qld 4101, close to South Brisbane and West End. On-site parking is available, with entry via Brook St.

Why should I choose Holistic Physio?

We offer truly personalised care that combines physiotherapy, acupuncture, Chinese herbal medicine and clinical Pilates. By listening to your story and tailoring treatment to your needs, we focus on treating the root cause of your discomfort, not just the symptoms.

      What services do you offer?

Beyond traditional physiotherapy, we provide acupuncture, Chinese herbal medicine and clinical Pilates, supporting acute and chronic pain, migraines, sports injuries, women's health and stress-related issues.
